It’s FAFSA season! You might have heard about it from your student’s high school, read about it online, or just spoke with other parents. Regardless of how you heard about it, the clock is ticking.
Now the question is, who gets aid? If you are fortunate enough to have financial resources to pay for college, kudos to you. If a family has low income and assets, they will receive a lot of need-based aid.
But what if you’re in the middle? If you are a middle-class family from a generally well-off area of Del Sur, Rancho Bernardo or Poway, but you’re not wealthy, it’s likely your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) will be higher than you expect.
You may also be outside the range of need-based aid. In addition, you probably have a lot of responsibilities that make it hard to find extra money to pay for college expenses.
In general, these families – which are a large percentage of America – struggle to pay for college. They often find themselves facing gaps between what they can afford and the cost of college. If you’re in this “no man’s land,” you need a solid strategy.
Come to Yorkshire College Planning’s workshop, “FAFSA Secrets: How to Get Maximum Student Aid,” at the PUSD College and Career Fair, Wednesday, October 17, 2018, Room N-8. We will give you all the answers for completing the FAFSA and give you secrets you didn’t know were available for parents like you! We have two workshops, one is at 6:00PM and the next one begins at 7:00PM. Choose one or both! See you there!
